Oman
A commercial desalination plant and evaporative cooling system using the Group’s platform manipulated osmosis technology are operational in the territory. The Group also has an office located in the capital, Muscat.
The Middle East is a key market for Modern Water, where water is scarce and salinity levels are high. The conditions are challenging and can prove tough for conventional desalination processes. The Group commissioned its first commercial-scale plant in Oman in November 2009 and the Chairman of the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) turned on the water supply in the remote area of Al Khaluf in March 2010. The plant continues to supply high quality drinking water to the region and shows commitment by the PAEW to champion new technology in the country.
Oman is also home to the Group’s first manipulated osmosis evaporative cooling system. The plant was fabricated in the UK and installed over the summer of 2010.
In order to oversee the commissioning of these plants and development of the market, Modern Water has an office situated in Muscat, and deploys a number of business development, management and technical experts to the country.
